*OUR GREAT PHONE*

This the official telephone of Prank Call Central. It is a Western Electric Model 302. Designed by Henry Dreyfus and put into service in 1937, the Western Electric 302 is probably one of the most well known of the classic phones. One of its nicknames is the "Lucy" phone because of its many appearances on the "I Love Lucy" show. At Prank Call Central it is used mainly for making prank calls.

THREE CHEERS!
Here's tribute to the original prank call sin. The very first prank call which started it all--"Hello, is your refrigerator running? Then you better catch it!"

ROCK, ROT & RULE

Artist    Scharpling and Wurster

Title   ROCK, ROT & RULE

Seller ID   245

Recorded live on the air on November 19, 1997 at WFMU East Orange, NJ, listen in as deejay Tom Scharpling does a faux interview with self-appointed music critic Ronald Thomas Clontle (Jon Wurster) about his controversial reference book Rock, Rot & Rule. The book is simply just a list dividing all popular music history into the categories Rock, Rot, and Rule which is intended as a spoof of the false authority of real rock guidebooks and music critics. Clontle admits to not being very knowledgeable on the subject. He often seems disinterested during the interview since he has money on a basketball game in progress, his rationale is inconsistent, and he contradicts himself often, setting up a flood of enraged callers to the show. More enraging than Clontle’s inflammatory remarks about Bowie, Zappa, and Neil Young rotting, is his manner of turning the other cheek as callers become more and more confrontational with him. Wurster as Clontle is amazingly quick, reacting to every caller’s diatribe hilariously, and the venom they unleash, and the passion with which they debate this subject mirrors that of the armchair coaches heard regularly on sports radio. Great stuff for any fan of the show.
